Adventures at the San Diego Comic-Con
I come home from work at 4:15am. I take a shower, cook breakfast, and we leave at around 5:45. 2 hours later we're in San Diego. We park, pick up our badge and head for some fuel(aka, coffee). So Elaine and I are in line at Starbucks at the San Diego Convention Center, when this woman comes up to us and says, "Do you mind buying Samuel Jackson a grande coffee?" I did a double take. We were like, "Uh, sure..." She hands us $5. I say, "Oh no, don't worry about it. I want to tell people I bought Sam Jackson a grande coffee." However she insisted, and ultimately, she bought us coffee. She worked for New Line Cinema and they were there to promote Snakes on a Plane. She was in a rush and the line was long, so she cut in with us and bought our drinks. And I even got a Snakes on a Plane pin.

So, our first stop was the Warner Bros. panel. They showcased The Reaping (Joel Silver, the producer, the director, and two of the stars, Hilary Swank and some girl), The Wicker Man (the director was there), and the main guest: Brian Singer. The man discussed Superman Returns, hinted at his dissatisfaction with the marketing, and briefly discussed the sequel to Superman Returns. He says 2009. Oh, and he also brought out Richard Donner to discuss the new Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. And they showed a clip from that version that was frickin awesome. It further proves that the producers of Superman I and II were morons. Someone asked Singer if the opportunity arose, would he return to "fix" the X-Men films. Richard Donner answered for him and said Yes. Donner's wife is Lauren Schuler-Donner, the producer of all 3 X films. Singer showed a blooper reel for SR. And discussed some of the cuts he made in the movie, and what might go into the DVD. Apparently they cut out the most expensive shot they filmed from the movie, and that might never see the light of day... Too bad. All in all, Singer's panel was definitely a good one.

We went to another Superman panel when we couldnt get into the Heroes one. Much of the same really. Singer's was better.

That was followed by a packed room for the Battlestar Galactica panel. Awesome. Edward James Olmos(Adama), Aaron Douglas(Tyrol), James Callis(Baltar), Lucy Lawless(Deanna), David Eick, and Ron Moore were all there. They seemed to be having fun and were pretty forthcoming with Season 3 tidbits (and it is AWESOME!).

Oh, and also announced at Comic-Con, the voice of Optimus Prime for the upcoming movie will be Peter Cullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime. That's fantastic news...

Shortly after we stayed for a Bones panel with the show's creator and David Boreanaz. It was cool, but we left early, hit the exhibit floor to meet up with our buddy Ed, get our free stuff from Warner Bros., then came back here to LA. And dude, seriously, I'm so frackin tired. I'm writing this to stay awake while I'm waiting for footage to load.... It's killer man.

Anyway, they're now going to start taking taxes out of my check. Which means I'm staff now. I think. And I got a raise for the episodic work that I'm doing now. Pretty dandy eh? I'm still doing the render thing, and that pay is the same, but I devote a few hours a night to the shows and for those I get the increased rate. Woooooooo!
